PAL RELAY REPLACEMENTS FOR WARD-LEONARD

PAL offers relay replacements for the original relays manufactured by Ward-Leonard used on gas turbines manufactured in the 1960s. The original W-L relays were as follows:

The PAL replacements are sold in combinations of blocks and relays. They blocks are manufactured to exacting U-L standards and fit into the same footprint as the original relays. They have the identical wiring configuration. The blocks have LED lamps to indicate when the power is available; the relays also have lights to indicate when they are energized. Should a relay fail, it will be visually obvious to a plant operator.

The relays can be replaced by plant electricians, each taking about 15 minutes. All 125 volt relays can be replaced, as needed. However, any 62.5 volt relays must be replaced “in pairs” to avoid a “mismatch” in impedance of the coil.

PAL Turbine Services, LLC. offers replacement relays and relay blocks for the original Ward-Leonard devices installed on General Electric MS5001K-LA and MS3002F gas turbines. Relays that rated at 62.5 volts (that is, one-half of 125 volt configuration) must be replaced in pairs. Also, the original W-L relays cannot be installed “in series” with the PAL replacement relays (62.5 volt applications only) because of a mismatch of coil impedances.
