Blade Angle Asymmetry

Steam

DID YOU KNOW that when turbine blades do not move to the same pitch angle as they adjust to varying wind conditions, the protection system may open them to the “feathered” position, shutting down the unit?

Steam
This is referred to as blade angle asymmetry (BAA). The cause may be an anomaly in the PLC controls; possibly the position feedback system for one of the blades is faulty or in disagreement with the other two independent blades; other problems may have inadvertently arisen in the motor or hydraulic system.

Contact PAL Wind, LLC to assist in determining the cause, so we can conduct a root cause analysis (RCA) and offer corrective actions.
