PAL Engineering has the most experienced staff of GE-trained field engineers and consultants in the turbine service business. Our staff of Senior Consulting Engineers and other technical consultants are all graduates of the Field Engineering Program (FEP). Several are also graduates of the gas or large steam turbine/generator start-up programs. All have had advanced technical training at the OEMs training center in Schenectady, including courses in turbine and generator maintenance, repair practices, start-up and various eras of control systems.
PAL has specialists in Fuel Regulator and Speedtronic™ Mark I thru V for gas turbine control & protection systems. On steam turbines, we have other specialists on mechanical-hydraulic controls (MHC), electro-hydraulic controls (EHC) and Speedtronic™ Mark V.
Most of our permanent staff members are accomplished in the use of our Olympus I-plex borescope. Thus, you can rest assured that an expert will be sent to inspect your gas or steam turbine. A PAL team member reviews all findings before a final report is issued.
As an added benefit to our clients, our PAL provides technical expertise to those working in the field, usually at no added expense, when one of our engineers is on an assignment for a client. In short, if you hire one of us you get the expertise of us all. No red tape; no chains of command; only prompt and accurate technical advice.
Of course, the use of the Turbine Online Problem Solving (TOPS) service is always available to our engineers and clients.
In summary, if you need field engineering services on GE gas or steam turbine/generators, contact PAL Engineering. |

- Mechanical Assistants (MA) serve as "second men" on outages where the work scope requires same-shift coverage with a PAL Technical Advisor (TA). Due to the complexity of the job for some turbines (ex. 7EA-DLN and 7FA), PAL sometimes recommends double coverage to assure efficiency and safety. Our MA's are fully trained for second-shift coverage under the supervision of the day shift TA.
- In addition to being a PAL-trained MA, Kim is also the hydraulics and fuel system specialist. He rebuilds Young & Franklin fuel regulators, OilGear and NY Airbrake fuel pumps and Y&F gas control and stop valves.
|
- In addition to being a PAL-trained MA, Skip is also a licensed plumber and experienced pipe fitter. He is a trained assistant on hydraulics and fuel system rebuilds. He assists Kim Graff in the rebuild of Young & Franklin fuel regulators, OilGear and NY Airbrake fuel pumps and Y&F gas control and stop valves
|
- In addition to being PAL-trained MA, Chuck is also a diesel engine specialist. He owns and operates Haberek’s Auto Diesel Machine shop in Amsterdam, NY. He has rebuilt Cummins diesel starting engines for MS5001M gas turbines and done troubleshooting on Detroit diesels for MS6001B gas turbines.
|
– Electrical Assistants (EA) serve as "second men" on outages where the work scope requires same-shift coverage with a PAL Technical Advisor (TA).
Due to the complexity of testing and calibration jobs, sometimes an EA will be used to support the work of the turbine controls specialist. Our EA's are fully trained for second-shift coverage under the supervision of the day shift TA.
- Dave is a licensed electrician and an experienced hydraulic specialist who served twenty years in the national guard. He is an accomplished wiring specialist and wired turbine control panels and has built circuit boards. He is an able assistant for calibrating gas turbine controls.
