Fuel-System-Products Reconditioning

Probably nothing!  That is, nothing that a good servicing and minor improvements wouldn't cure. Other than that, it's probably been doing its job just fine since it was originally installed on your gas turbine in the 1960s.

The picture shows a reconditioned Fuel Regulator monitored by the innovative-temperature-control proximity probe (FRM-1 probe shown).

The Fuel Regulator (FR) was invented in the 1940s for diesel locomotive applications and later adapted by GE for land-based gas turbines. It was applied to the first gas turbine package power plant in 1961. Its popularity lasted the rest of the decade, becoming the control system applied to hundreds of peaking and emergency plants shipped after the Northeast Blackout of November 1965. Thirty-five years of life is not too shabby! What computer system these days can claim this kind of in-service record?

Specialist Kim Graff Reassembles Fuel Regulator

The manufacturer recommends servicing the FR and related fuel system components every five years, though few owners have done it. One client waited 38 years! This could be dangerous! Sludge and dirt can build up in the Fuel Regulator or related components such as the Hydraulic Positioning Servo, which can result in a catastrophic failure, as recently happened in Astoria, NY. Also, wear is expected on the stabilizing rheostat, and the many o-rings and gaskets can develop leaks. Other fuel system components with similar problems can also be serviced. Refer to the below list of related components reconditioned by PAL Engineering.
